No, needs a cable pull widget thing. 9-speed mountain derailleur would work.

I thought as much. Cheers

Cheapest option is some combo of used 9-speed MTB/road parts. 10-speed road stuff also would also be compatible. No 10-speed MTB stuff, nothing 11-speed.
Or go to bar-ends and do what you like.

Kinesis Tripster - there's a squareish nut at the threaded end of the thru-axle that appears to embed in the frame when it's tightened down. I can see this going horribly wrong. Do I just tighten it once and it stays put in the frame from then on?
EDIT: Yes, it dragged in just fine. Now to try and fit the brake caliper...

Before I possibly put myself in danger i thought i'd ask here. I have a 1inch fork and a 1 inch crown race . The crown race and another i have tried are both loose . Is it safe to do a coke can shim on said steerer and crown race ? I have shimmed bars before and never had a slip . I have seen it suggested online but thought i'd pick the minds of the forum. P.s said shim has been installed and crown ace is tight but I can reverse this if needs be.

Try this again,
Where on here can I draw attention to my awesome ebay item?

what is it? I'm intrigued

Are you trying to fit a JIS crown race to an ISO crown, maybe?
-
• #89261
I have no idea. is there a difference in mm between the two?
-
• #89262
No, you need a thinner grease. Try the shimano freehub grease, I use the park tool poly lube 1000 and it's been ok. I can lend you some if useful?

can someone point me to all the internal gubbins, bearings and axle for a rebuild of a fix/fixed track hub, the usual iro/formula/on one style?
-
• #89266
formula/on one
Those are two different hubs (maybe, depending on what day you bought OnOne) with two different sets of innards. If you want to replace axles and bearings, you're likely to be best off buying complete hubs and performing a transplant. If they are Novatec, which many are, Bdopcycling sell axle kits and you can get SKF, FAG, NSK etc. bearings from your favourite bearing shop, but it won't be an cheaper than buying a complete hub.

they're the same as this if that helps...
-
• #89268
IRO=Formula. That's what you need to buy for transplant purposes. BLB (boo!) has bare axles for £12, @thecycleclinic (hurrah!) of this parish has complete hubs for £28

thanks!

one last question - I definately need to get the innards out of a rear, a front won't do right? because I guess the bearings are a different distance apart on the axle?

Yes, and the threads are different too, 9mm front 10mm rear

Ace, thanks

Are these any good?
I like them, but shop around as reputable shops often have them at a similar price.

I used the green but I've ordered some TP42 which is what the DT Swiss stuff is meant to be? Will see how that works.

Can I use Shimano grease gun (the green grease) in a ST Swiss Star Ratchet or is it too thick?
Actually, what easily found grease can I use? Don't want to wait a week for DT Swiss grease.
