Found a flat ring, the stack (exposed part of the bearing+compression ring stack) is 5mm, maybe a little less once compressed, and bearing diameter is 42mm.

What's the head tube diameter, or in your case, the largest diameter on the stock cover?
-
• #829
47mm

OK, depending on how much your compression ring compresses, you'll need either 47x4 from stock or a 47x4.5 custom one.

I’ll go for a 4mm one, in case it’ll sit a little high I’ll fit one of these seals:

@mdcc_tester earlier in the thread you wrote 28th (today) as last day of ordering, is it true? (or maybe I misread).
And I can't find your paypal account on the first page.

It's true for non-standard sizes. What do you need?

Thanks - going standard with two 45mmx2mm.
I can't find your paypal info.

I'll PM you, I keep it out of the thread in case it changes for some reason.

Thanks -

Is there any chance of you making any more of your bond-in bungs, in an oversized format to be turned down to size? I can and do make my own, but it's bloody boring, particularly now I feel obliged to copy yours and drill them to save nearly a whole gram. If I could limit the machining to a simple case of turning one down to the right diameter, that would save precious, precious time.

I can ask for a quote, how many do you want? I've got more than a yard of 1" bar to hand :)

Between 6 and 10, depending on the extent to which the unit price varies with quantity, if at all.
This is the last one I made, for @Cycliste's singlespeed bike.

Uber tarty, If you want them at a reasonable price you probably want to stick to my super simple model, which works fine and is <4g at 23.5mm OD. Total price for 10 is probably going to be the same as for 6, the spindle time is so short that nearly all the cost is programming it. This one will turn down to 22mm safely, but I could bring the lightening holes in a bit if you think you're likely to need anything smaller. Carbon 1⅛" steerers seem to fall between 23 and 24 ID for the most part.

Sounds ideal. How deep is the <4g one? My one wot I posted a picture of is 7g, but it's 13mm deep. I appreciate generous threading on a permanent bonded bung.

How deep is the <4g one?
6mm. 1×D is enough thread engagement. It wouldn't make any difference to pricing to make them up to 12mm thick if that's what you want, but I've been using the 6mm ones for years without problem, and I tighten them to 5Nm after clamping the stem.

Have any 47x2 in stock?

Yes, everything is in stock at the moment.

Don't suppose anyone wants to swap their 45x3 for my 45x2 headset cover? I ordered the wrong size :(

Cervelos which seem to want a 3mm deep cover are usually suffering from a tall compression ring, I know several people have solved this by getting a lower compression ring. If that fails and nobody wants to buy your 2mm one, you can send it back and pay the p&p again and I'll send you a 3mm deep one.
Funnily enough I work for Pinarello, but there aren’t any 5mm HS cover in stock in our UK warehouse and didn’t want to bother the guys in Treviso for a single (discontinued) small part.
The round ones are the older design, now frames come as standard with the aero teardrop HS cover made to fit Pinarello own stems that come only at -6 degrees.
As I wanted to try out different angles I thought to give your cover a try!
Tomorrow I’ll try to find a flat compression ring and let you know!
