My auntie's bike?

So I now have a Tripster.
Well, most of a Tripster.
Front hub appears to be a 15mm TA, not 12mm like the frame/axles. Can I adapt the hub? It previosuly had a thing to take it down to QR so I presume there's something like an adapter sleeve for 15mm to 12mm?
-
• #205
What brand is the hub?
But yes, if you can swap the end caps then you should be able to get a 12mm one to replace the 15mm.

It's an SP dynamo hub PL-8X.
http://sp-dynamo.com/8Xseriesdynamo%20hub.htmlHere's I was thinking I'd be rid of fucking adapters. Modern bikes fucking suck.

I dont think there is an end cap solution, I looked into it when I couldnt find the 12mm SP hub in stock ANYWHERE ..

Taking up smoking instead of riding these stupid fucking bikes seems like a good idea.
Reckon Evans store will have one of these adapters? I also need a Park Tools cassette lockring tool since mine won't fit the disc rotor and I need to swap the end caps to convert the rear to TA from QR. Did I say fuck modern bikes yet? Fuck modern bikes.

The adapter I have that takes 15mm down to QR is a specially machined tube arrangement. I wonder if using a straight bore tube will cause issues.
-
• #213
This is the 15mm to QR I have:
Not sure how necessary the ridges are, but the adapter is directional so they must have some purpose.

I wanted to get this thing rideable for tomorrow. Clearly bike companies have other ideas. I thought I was so clever getting the rear hub conversion in advance...

• #215
I own more wheels than a fucking car dealership and still don't have any that fit. burns London to the ground

Looks great. You'll be visible that's for sure!

I've named it "SMIDSY yellow"

The ridges should be matched to the locations of the sealed cartridge bearings in the hub (to provide support)
-
• #220
So, if the outside diam. of the tube matches the inner diam. of the hub it should still be all good, yeah?
-
• #221
Logic is sound but I think it'd all have to be a very precise fit (both the tube in the hub and the axle in the tube) to ensure everything was working as intended
-
• #222
Do you run any Igaro style USB charging device on this?
-
• #223
It doesn't look like SP do an adapter so I don't think I've got any other options but to track down a Halo adapter, which means the rush to get this down for this weekend was pointless. Yay for pointless hassle.
-
• #224
I mean, it's still on the bars that were taken off the old bike but since I don't actually own a wheel that fits this bike I'm kinda up shit creek until I track down one of the adapters. The Igaro will remain installed.

is there a deadline you are trying to hit? Why not just get it re-built with the 15mm SP? PITA I know but a more solid long term solution.
I'll buy your 12mm SP ;)
You jest but I would fucking love a cargo bike. Not for racing obviously (although that would be funny enough I'd consider it). Problem is storage. I have none.
