has anyone done tooting common parkrun? is it suitable for road shoes?
anywhere nearby for breakfast afterwards? not asking for a friend
thanks in advance!

Depends how fast you are, I prefer doing it in off road shoes as the paths are pretty narrow and it’s been very busy lately so when lapping people you usually end up on grass which is very muddy at the mo but you could easily avoid doing that and is tarmac or hard pack paths the whole way.
Not sure about breakfast, there will something around Tooting Bec station.

PM me your address and I'll post it to you. It won't be until the 19th though cos I'm off work until then with the mid term break.

Have you read like the wind magazine ? Very much a Ride Journal for running.

Final league race done. Think I did enough to get 3rd overall in the second division standings...

Xc also done. My foot tight but not painful so far after = better than expected .
My GPS on new phone measured it a mile shorter than everyone else, so when corrected looks like I was at appx 8m40s pace although eyeballs out hr just to make progress through thick mud.
Lots of runners ran for long stretches outside the marked course to find firmer ground, annoying as cheating.
Even my non-race shoes needed washing after...

Ran into work today with a ~30l rucksack. What is the secret to stopping everything bouncing around and being incredibly annoying? How do you mountain marathon folks do it? I'm guessing I need some sort of lightweight rucksack made out of nice stretchy material that is absolutely covered in compression straps - any recommendations?

Did you need 30L? Does it have chest and waist straps?

I need a new 30-40l rucksack anyway for a trip to Everest Base Camp in October. And I had to bring my bike tools, jacket and helmet for the ride home, a change of clothes for the day and my lunch so I'd like it to be a decent size for that sort of stuff.
It does have chest/waist straps but it just doesn't fit me basically, it was either too loose on the upper body, too tight over the shoulders or too tight on my collarbones. Kept adjusting it but I was just uncomfortable in a different way each time.
Edit: also I'm considering signing up for a mountain marathon later in the year so I'm after something that could take a tent, sleeping bag, couple of spare layers and a bit of food.

^^ I have this on my wishlist to have a crack at putting together some kind of lightweight fastpacking kit for doing a day or two on the trails once I get back into shape (current eta: never).
would require some weight weenying but has some decent pedigree (used by lots of MdS runners).

I've got an OMM Classic one that I've run up to 22 miles with, containing shoes, change of clothes & a coat. I think that's 30 litres or so
It's as comfy as anything containing that amount of tat can be.
I think the secret is to get it as tight as possible. The only thing with the OMM is that it sometimes makes my tshirt ride up at the waist. The world does not need to see that
Had never heard of it. Looks good.
