It’s the same range, but with lots of gaps in that range. Plus realistically, using the lowest gear can only be an occasional treat as the drivetrain will protest, very noisily.

Agreed, but for most situations I only really need middle 7 which is still a spread of 15-28. The mid cassette steps are not that huge so it wouldn’t ruin it I’m my view. The outer 4 are for getting up and Koppenberg etc note the read numbers are crosschain situations
