Blimey, cracking time for a pavement 10k! Kind of nice when it's improvised off simply feeling good. Promising marathon pace prospects.
A typical Thursday "threshold miles" session for me, and some nice progress from recent sessions. I've been doing 5 x 1600 on the track w/ 30 secs standing recovery, and up till now targeting 5:30 or quicker, generally averaging 5:27/5:28 in recent sessions, but last night averaged 5:22 at what feels like genuine threshold rather than smashing it. Hoping to improve this to 6 reps @ 5:20 prior to Bath HM in just over three weeks, which could be an indicator of possible PB form.
Warning mild boast post
3 weeks ago tomorrow I managed to average 4:07 for 2x20 minutes and today despite feeling rubbish after a long couple of days in Germany aiming for 4 min kms for 35 minutes, was ticking along nicely by 5k so decided to keep going for 10k and managed it in 38:35, my second fastest ever 10k according to Strava, so feeling like I’m making good progress :)
