That one didn't have a tent or presumably sleeping mat either tho, which would make it easier! Any suggestions Ed for a budget small tent?

I tour for around 2 weeks each summer with less, no tent or pots. Cold food and forest/beach sleeping with a bag only - Love it. I'm sure in colder climates the pot becomes a necessity.
Love that yellow bike, I'm sure I saw it at Grinduro in Arran.

No coffee tho?!

Normally it goes the way of...
Ride to the first small cafe you see, order espresso, use toilet... Keep on touring

How noticeable is the difference between 700c with 42mm tyres and 650b with 42mm tyres? I have yet to try any 650b
-
• #17883
Ed has tire ganglias.

650b in 42mm make more sense in reducing weight and keeping the bike feeling lively.
Fuck it, 20" is where it's at right now! Even more weight reduction, less trail, more lively and even more ridiculous:

20" is the 29er of the small-wheel-world. 16" is where it's at!

Arran
I'm guessing you weren't sleeping on a beach on Arran? Because if you were you're an absolute nutter!

The tent I use is a MSR Hubba, sleeping bag is the cheapest lightest Snugpak, and mattress is the Klymit Inertia X Lite Ultralight mat.
The tent pole is strapped to the top tube so the tent itself can be packed 1/3rd the sizes.

Seriously though, why is this not a thing?
Keep your cargo half bike under the stairs.
-
• #17895
What you mean like detach the cargo bit and then just ride the front half normally with a wheel? You'd need to recable (unless you creatively tuck the extra length of cable somewhere) and swap chain every time for one thing. A trailer basically achieves the same thing right?

why is this not a thing?
Cause everybody keeps hammering on about short chainstays.

If you ditch the cooking stuff, you can have it all, and reasonably comfortable too, even on a track bike.
