MOPAC has been introduced and the Metropolitan Police are no longer borough-based,
but arranged in Tri-Boroughs. Hillingdon joins Ealing & Hounslow, with a single Commander.
Ray of light? Locally, Ruislip police station remains open, as the response times from the (current) LB Hillingdon single police station of Hayes were admitted to be excessive, but staffed by volunteers Mon-Fri 10-5pm. Police officers will be attendance, Wed 5-6pm, and possibly some hours on a Saturday.
MOPAC also introduces the concept of job enrichments, whereby all Police personnel 'work up' a grade, but of course get no boost in pay for the added responsibility.
The 'Bobby on the street' role is seemingly superceded by PCSOs.
All the 'excess' police stations will be sold for development, just like happened with fire stations.
