Yeah Chrome is probably out of the question as I won't spend £££ on it. But re colour you are on point with my thinking. I quite like this Richard Sachs

I vote for chroming just the Ritchey dropouts. I've never seen them chromed and I think it would look very good and then a neutral frame colour (that pebble gray you like so much? Or something a little stronger like a cappuccino colour?). I've already built this in my head for you. You're welcome.
