I am letting go of frame + forks if anybody fancies a budget rando

And reason for selling is that I have inherited this gate:

I haven't build with lugs before. Maybe a little bit but not enough to claim I can do it safely. So this will be my first. Obviously there is some bits already done, but there is still shit loads of silver soldering to do and many decisions to be made.
Ideas are very welcome for frame details.
FYI: I am letting Giant F+F + rack + seatpost shim + seat clamp go for 150gbp which will pay for forks for this ^

Shit that thing is good looking and massive. How long is it, and what are your plans?

It really ties the room together

Well, it is all a bit sudden but I think nod at old school with shiny silver bits but modern brifters.
Probably it will have canti brakes and a Nitto M12.
I need to build some forks and I quite fancy a Paris Brest fork crown.
Frame is Reynolds and standard 1" and 27.2 seatpost. I want to run it 1" ahead I think. Maybe with custom steel stem.Geo: ST 620mm CTC 73° / TT 570mm CTC 0°/ HT 220mm 73° / 70-75mm BB drop
Basically ideal for my body although it will feature some spacers probably.
I am excited is it has been years since I have ridden a skinny steel frameset

Thanks. Swoon.
I like the ritchey things as well
-
• #135
You're going to make your own stem as well? That would be awesome and you could make a tall stack one.
-
• #136
I don't know. Maybe. All depends on funds.
I don't relly need this bike. I just crave it... -
• #137
I vote for chroming just the Ritchey dropouts. I've never seen them chromed and I think it would look very good and then a neutral frame colour (that pebble gray you like so much? Or something a little stronger like a cappuccino colour?). I've already built this in my head for you. You're welcome.
Edit: And dibs, natch.

Yeah Chrome is probably out of the question as I won't spend £££ on it. But re colour you are on point with my thinking. I quite like this Richard Sachs

Is there a bit of metal sleeve in here or is it just two ends welded together?
-
• #141
There's a plug in there to make sure I can turn up the amps and get full penetration
-
• #142
What's the size / geo / price?
With or without the rack?
-
• #143
Well it is 58ish with a 188-195mm head tube I believe.
I'll get measurements f needed.
Rack is included. @sacredhart has first dibs. Also it is £150

Tentative dibs (on frame) for a friend. Would you sell rack seperately? :()
-
• #146
I'll make you a rack but this rack is custom for the forks
-
• #148
Well, I do like the idea of contribution to DBAD.
Your forks do not have the eyelets right?
-

Nope but Paul; the man himself told me that its ok to use the rack adapters on direct mount brakes .. Nitto M12 wont work because of the angle of struts.
Finally got some time to finish the rack.
This time around I am trying out Jade Oil to protect the steel from rust. I have little hope this will actually work. I imagine rack will get rusty quite fast, but it will do until I decide on paint.
My partners rack I finished using a wax, which worked for a month or two. It is quite rusty now ;-(
