They sure do have sensitive stomachs when young. If it's any consolation, Otto has developed an iron constitution as an adult! It did seem like he had the squits more often than not for a while when he was a pup...
No idea how it happened. We just found him whimpering and quivering one morning. Apparently it can happen from the slightest thing if you're susceptible. He's too young for it to be a degenerative condition, probably bad luck and an injury from hairing around the woods that suddenly got worse over night.
Our poor Whippet, Otto, slipped a disk in his back on the 28th of Jan.
He was really lucky, nerve damage was minimal and his legs are working fine now. He's not in any pain either. Full recovery expected.
However...he's on crate rest for another week. It is heartbreaking to lock a young dog away in a cage full time apart from toilet breaks. I hope he forgives us when this is over! I've spent the last 5 days sitting in front of his crate keeping him company while I work on my laptop.
