Always thought this configuration was quite cool. Good for bants anyhow.
Apparently you can stand up in the SU-34. Have a stretch liek.

doorscanopy off. -

Have to say. I would have pulled the ejection capsule rather than belly flop with 3000lb of fuel. I mean the airframe must have been written off anyway.

Cant do that because who knows where the thing would end up

belly flop with 3000lb of fuel
That struck me as odd: I thought it was SOP to jettison fuel or use it up before attempting a crash landing.

Everyone's forgetting "because Straya"
I used to live at the end of Richmond RAAF base. I'd watch the F-111's all day when they were doing training. They are awesome old beasts, especially on full afterburner. Although not quite as dominating as watching a C5 galaxy feet above your roof and screaming into the air.

mach 3 bomber to rival the blackbird
Not sure anything will ever rival the blackbird in terms of performance, engineering or requirements. Unique point in time for that plane.

Classic, never gets old.
I also like the story of the F-15 pilot who suffered a mid air collision yet managed to fly and land safely with one wing completely sheared off.

Is it the one at Duxford?
Definitely agree they're the uglier!
