  • How's the tire clearance on this model with 650b wheels and mudguards? Tried googling but no hits - i guess you know something google doesn't :).

  • Im riding 700c 28c with guards so i do not im afraid!

@umop3pisdn measured his XL and said that you can probably fit 38s without guards (iirc) in the genesis owners thread.

  • 32 I think? I forget.

  • Cunt
  • Haha, how do you do that???

  • Sponsored by Ocado haha

  • That's brilliant.

  • Putting this up for sale soon to make way for something new (to me).

  • Thought I should maybe update this.

Bought this arkose frameset around a year ago and built it with the bits from my equilibrium, not much changed for a while but I’ve been thinking about a respray ever since I bought it. Last week I decided to pull the trigger on an idea for a paintjob and ordered some paint and some other bits for something a little bit different.

  • This is how it’s looked for the majority of that time (minus the bags) so far I’ve been massively impressed with it. But it’s been fairly neglected, riding it to work with no guards down muddy paths had taken its toll (mostly because I could not be arsed to clean it).

  • I’ve been wanting to try out risers on it for a while and fancied riding singlespeed too so this is what it’s looked like for the past couple weeks.

I finally cleaned it properly after riding it and deciding it would stay set up like this for a while

This set up has been mega fun, I think i’ll definitely put gears back on it in the future, but it’s waiting on a trigger clamp that i’ll Likely resort to ordering from China.

Lockdown has also prompted me to pour a shed base in my yard and build my shed which has massively spurred me on with bike tinkering. Perhaps the unusually warm climate has helped too as it’s felt like it’s basically rained non stop since I moved north to Manchester.

  • Today consisted of sanding the frame back (thank fuck I have a detail sander as that made light work of the bulk of the paint)

Sanded the forks back too, they will be painted tomorrow.

  • Kinda miss this frame tbh

    Also bin that seatpost immediately

  • Never, I’ve spent years trying to get rid of it (as you well know) and it’s finally come in handy as I needed to try out a set back for fit.

It is however a place holder until I get a nicer one, will be used to hold the bike whilst I spray too.

Might just sand it back to bare carbon after, mind you it’d still be very ugly and slightly crimped.

  • Like the purple ano chain tensioner - what is it?

  • It’s this cheap one on eBay “WEAPONIZED” is the name. Works well so far quite I like how simply made it is too. Hefty though for how small it is (though still lighter than my sram red derailleur I think).

  • You could run two different cog sizes next to each other on the freehub and 2 minutes with an allen key, I bet you could change gear ratio by moving the jockey wheel over a little

  • I sprayed the frameset. recently bought a Topeak masterblaster too, so I’ve Taped both ends off and colour matched the metal section to the bike.

The plan is now to have my girlfriend doodle on it (she went to uni for illustration so will do a much better job than me) It will mostly consist of stereotypical tattoo style doodles some personal references and various cheesy things to draw on a gravel/adventure bike. The idea is to go along the style of Chas who does some of the Mash stuff with maybe less writing and more little doodles, think most of this will be clustered around the front end with a couple bits on the back too.

The paint has gone on pretty well, and I have more than enough left to colour match a stem which I’m not sure if i’ll be doing or not yet. Will re-build it tomorrow I think as I need the bike for commuting and drawing will be done at some point in the near future before a matte clear coat Is applied.

  • I actually do have 2 cogs on the freehub atm, but one is just there as a spacer as I didn’t have enough

  • with maybe less writing and more little doodles

    Bit naff but fine ..

Ask your mates (if you have any) to do them, one line brief like 'draw me without looking at me' or something.

  • this is my contribution

and no I cant be friends with you

  • Does anyone else find Amey’s ramblings less and less coherent like he’s descending into madness fuelled by soiled nappies and a public disdain for overpriced American bicycle products?

  • @Jules already contributed “you should have a slogan on it”

  • He’s the trump of LFGSS
