What time is it? Watches and horology

All these Rolexes are desperately horrible. There is no elegance about them whatsoever.
I'm sure most people only buy them because other people will then know they have one.

Why did they stop making watches like these?

One or two of the watches you just posted are worth 7 figures (or close to it) I think.

Because they realised that most that can afford their watches have no taste and they can make loadsa monies from targeting them. As you said most of their buyers only buy them because they know it can be recognised from 100 yards.

Today’s wristwear. The more time I’ve spent with this, the more I love it as an everyday wearer, especially at weekends. The only bugbear is the power reserve is laughable. It won’t tick for more than a few hours off the wrist. Keeps good time otherwise.

38mm... it's the perfect size for a wristwatch. Unless you are build like Arnold/Dywane/etc

If I were ever to get a Panerai it would have to be one of the classic chunky ones.
