I did an intern at Abbey National as a fresh faced 19 year old and felt my soul being sucked through my face and into an excel spreadsheet of FSA compliance data as I emailed staff whose activities were covered by for info it to get paranoid responses asking if they were getting fired. Banter mostly consisted of middle aged women talking about menopause or middle aged men talking about getting their polyps operated on.
I have been running ever since so I imagine that there is indeed therapy in racing against them and just doing a forest gump through the finish and away, away into the distance never to return.
It was my boss in Abbey National in Jan 2003 who got me a charity place at FLM as it was called back then. Was life changing. I did one corporate lunchtime 5km relay in MK that summer but that kinda thing didn't appeal once tried.
