Was thinking about selling my Ti J.Guillem frame and buying one of these, then realised I could do with both.
Will have a scoot around Evans Cycles tomorrow -

Gearing is on point and the praxis look great - but the Samox 2-piece on the Arkose X is just a lot better looking and I can't imagine it being more expensive when you buy bulk.

Whut!? You prefer a Samox over a Praxis Works?
-
• #2281
No, I prefer the looks to the FSA Omega!
-
• #2282
wow
-
• #2283
Samox > FSA
Me I'd have one of these

Was quoted €270 for a custom Alu all-road frame from bike mielec with through axle disc dropouts, smooth welds and 3 bottle mounts. Not amazed by their previous frames but still tempted.

Damn. That is good. Not including paint I assume
-
• #2286
Not sure. Waiting for some photos of the 12mm dropouts wih integrated brake mount. Quite sure they might be post mount/is though. Not flat mount. Not a huge deal though.

I've the SS Samox crank. Weights a tonne, looks shit, Q factor too wide. First thing I replaced on my Arkose
-
• #2288
I’d go for the FSA over Samox, the latter are very cheap chainset.

Help with sizing pls,
Top end of smaller size = loads of seatpost/ cramped top tube?
Bottom end of larger size = bottom limit of seatpost / rides like a plank of wood?TIA

Do you need frame bag space? I always size down. Prefer the handling with a 120 stem over a 100 or so
-
• #2292
It depends on what you want to do, doesn't it. With an MTB or the more adventurous road bikes the trend is for short stems. So to my mind you decide whether you want a full-blown roadie build with 120mm stem or a gravel/whatever build with a relatively short 90mm stem and better handling on slow, technical gravel stuff.
And a longer seatpost is more comfortable all else being equal.
Frame bag space is the remaining consideration as you say.

Agree with above, its the more upright position/ short stem thats throwing me
I'll try and get into Evans this week.
The other measurement throwing me is the standover height. -
• #2294
I just 120 stem all the bikes. Difference comes for me in level of slammednitude
-
• #2295
Don't forget bar reach in this equation.
-
• #2296
Yes, hence why looking bath the 80/90mm stems to shorten things up
-
• #2297
120 everything, slam everything
job done

Any thoughts on the Pinnacle Pyrolite out there?
-
• #2299
Is it like a 650b Arkose?

Slight difference in geometry, sit between Arkose and Dolomite.
Useful that it have 15mm thru axle on front, more choice of MTB wheels.
