A lighter wallet.

I am more concerned about my wallet being aero :)
But honestly I have only read great SP reviews. I reckon it will work fine for me

Struggling to get a good beam from my second hand pd-8 and brand new edelux 2.
I've got the long cable and have coiled it round the headtube. Could it be something to do with that?
Could it be to do with how i've wired them together? I haven't used the heat shrink tubing yet.
I'll try to upload a picture later but theres an A3 sized bright patch mabe 3m ahead and then a medium bright patch about 2x3m in a stretched square shape. Basically it doesn't look right to me.

The only way I can think to show it is on my story on insta. Not even sure if that'll work. I'll try something else later.

Unlikely to be cable, edelux 2 is not a particularly even beam. Can I ask if you were using it at night in an urban setting or somewhere really dark? I'm amazed how weak dyno lights look on the ground in front anywhere near sodium streetlights.

Mudguard rear SON is lush, I just fitted one. ££££££

Flange spacing has been an issue for me with an SP 9, I'd rather have a SON. Wide.

I beg your pardon?

I've done about 11,000k on a SP PD 8. @arup built it for me and its never even needed truing, i'm no lightweight either so i'm not sure I buy into the Son building a stronger wheel thing.
Its always worked, bearings are still fine, I use it for charging stuff and lights. The 5 year warranty is longer with the SON which is maybe worth it over the life of the product though.

It was in a dark industrial estate. I think is maybe that i'm comparing it to a strong exposure light but the light pattern definitely looks a bit crazy.

Is anything else plugged/wired in? Have you mounted it right way up (some are rotation sensitive) and is there anything in front of it, like your steadycam perhaps? :)

I think he wants you to show us your flange.

I take your point, sp hubs are generally loved for guud reason no doubt. 11k km on your hub is big miles. My particular issue is due to poor parts choice, I have too few spokes and limited clearances. Expensive mistake.

Narrow flanges might be more aero.
Tho most SONs are about the same width, exept the wide ones.

How many spokes are we talking? Mine will be 32h on Mavic A119 rims

100% right of course. Will give it a go!

You need decent wire strippers. I used £5 ebay ones:
(Yellow Pro Adjustable Automatic Wire Cable Cutter Stripper Crimper Plier DCUK)Get some heat shrink (it may be included).
Remember to slide a length of heatshrink onto the cable BEFORE you twist them together!
Other than those two tips I can't think of anything else, except maybe, measure twice, cut once.

Nothing else wired in, mounted the right way up, the bars and a cable are a bit in front but I unmounted it and held it by hand and it looked the same. It's a mystery.
