• I'm looking for a frame to replace my road frame. Am a tiny bit over 5'11", looking for something with about 58cm effective top tube, stack around 600mm (or a bit over), reach just under 400mm.

My list of ideal features goes as follows:

    • Clearance for 622 x 40mm
    • Cable disk brakes
    • Some luggage on the front fork; at least two bottle cage mounts
    • Full rear rack (some cheap/decent CX frames ruled out...)
    • 3 cages on the frame
    • Steel (I'm fine with something like an Arkose though)
    • 135mm QR rear, and 100 x 15mm axle front - so I can swap wheels with my 29er
    • Sliding dropouts if possible, so I can shorten the wheelbase/chainstay length for road days, or go SS
    • Combo of "sporty" carbon fork and sturdy full-rack steel (or similar) fork available, ideally easy to swap the two, cheap-ish

Obviously I don't expect to get all of these features.

Example frames that fulfil many of my criteria :

    • Sonder Camino Al
    • Pinnacle Arkose
    • Octane One KODE
    • Jamis Renegade
    • Surly Straggler
    • Soma Wolverine
    • Soma Double Cross Disk
    • Genesis CdF
    • Genesis Vagabond
    • All-city Macho Man
    • All-city Space Horse Disk
    • Light Blue Darwin
    • Salsa Marrakesh
    • Salsa Vaya

If it's a full bike I will probably swap the groupset for my 2x10 SRAM Rival/Apex groupset that I have already. So bikes with cable disk calipers are preferred.

Budget-wise I'm looking around £500 for a full (used) bike; could maybe go a bit higher for something fairly new; less than £500 for just a frameset.

I'm in Edinburgh but visit Durham, other parts of Scotland often and could also get to Birmingham on a weekend. If it's not near any of those places (or on the way from one to another) I'd need postage.

Feel free to crush my dreams and tell me I'm deluded
