So we're looking at properties around between 1/20th-1/18th of 4130 cromoly, but a density quite a lot lower.
My biggest concern is that in order to get enough material to mimic the the properties of steel, you'd basically be riding a big solid block of frozen sausages with a headset and and presfit BB :D -

New crop of Arkoses look great. Just they'd spec a better looking crankset.

Sounds extremely aero. I'm imagining this:

Someone post this as a all city prototype before cosmic stallion release in Us forum. Color match the instagram bike.

"aero sausage" sounds like slang for triathletes too!

Were those cables and hoses set up by a drunk person?

If you are wanting a frame just to tide you over get a 2nd hand CDF. It will handle all your touring duties and can happily be ridden on the road.
I got mine for £140 and have done 100km days loaded and 120km road rides keeping up with someone on a CAAd 12.
Spend the money you save on nicer wheels and you will have a much better bike IMO.

that bike is a 10

They don't come up for sale as often as you might expect to be honest. But if I see a decent one it's definitely a great option. And if I saw one at £140 I'd have snapped it up!
Is that yours? Looks like great fun

They're shit.
Elaborate please?

what's better in the same price range then?
If price is the main concern, I'd rather ride a decent cantilever/mini-v frame, than a pretty shit disc brake bike.
Elaborate please?
Heavy, dull ride. Mine felt similar to On-One Inbreds that I've had and quickly got rid of. And if I wanted a bike for "gravel" I'd get something that could take 40-42c tyres.

They did on the higher end one (Praxis), but the FSA one is also 48/32, so I’m happy with that.

The Croix de fer can take that big a tyres, abet latest one.
I did like my old one, it’s not fast, but it’s not a slouch unless you treat it like a road race bike.

Objectively nothing

I'm pretty much set on cable disks. They're much better in the wet or with a load of gear on the bike and I can get a set of 650b wheels if I want to. (Compressionless outers obviously.) And I'm likely to upgrade to hydraulic in future; would only need to buy levers, 11-speed cassette and brake calipers.
The newer ones do clear 40mm tyres apparently.

Cheeky link to a lovely bike. https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/316262/#comment14074052
On the upside, if the Octane One does prove to have similar quality control to PX, any buyer is going to be hard pressed to wrong worse customer service out of CRC...
