Dortmund wouldn't sell Aubameyang unless they had a replacement striker lined up.
Dortmund would take Batshuayi as a replacement.
Chelsea agreed but only if Arsenal sold them Giroud.
If Chelsea said no to Batshuayi then the Aubameyang deal was most likely off. £18m is cheap.

I think £18m for a 31 year old with 18 months left on his contract is a good price to be honest.
And of course it was sarcasm, I get all my transfer gossip from the internet like everyone else.
