• Well, carbon's out of my budget anyway, but with full camping gear, spare parts and clothes for a week you easily surpass bikepacking bag capacity I think. In which case you need full-blown racks.

    Might go with a bivvy bag and tarp next time I go touring, would save me a couple of kilos probably.

  • Both the Tifosi and the Diamondback have rack mounts front and rear, so no need for bikepacking. Not that I'd buy either as a touring bike, mind you.

  • I keep getting told off on here for talking about racks on carbon forks!

    The other problem is failure. If I overload a carbon frame I'm out >£1000; I almost certainly can't accidentally overload a Straggler, TdF, etc.
