I do hope you haven't done your bottle cage trick on those delicate suspension lowers?
-
• #5204
good ol' rubber padding keeping sid happy
-
• #5205
Got another photo of your lowers? I'd like to get some cages on my suspension fork too.
-
• #5206
not right now, sorry. but here's how you do it:
1) cut up an inner tube or any kind of similar rubbery material to be about 8cm x 4cm
2) use electrical tape (not any other kind) to tape this to the mounting point of cage
3) cage mounting is now padded, won't scratch whatever it's mounted to
4) use at least half a roll of tape to go up and down tube to mount it to
5) bend the bottle cages out a bit so they fit a 1l bottle of milk/juice from tesco
6) voila, 2l on your lowers -

The head angle is less terrifying it has to be said!
-
• #5212
Pffft. Steep and tall with no dropper 4 lyf

• #5213
Looks fantastic, what size is it? Same bag as me, did you get yours in that sale too? Where are you going in Wales?
-
• #5214
Also, for anyone who wants an easy option to attach anything cages to your forks. Get some of these
http://www.cyclemiles.co.uk/shop/accessories/gorilla-clip-for-gorilla-cage-and-monkii-system/
They're called the 'monkii system' for Gorilla cages, but they'll work with anything cages etc, once you take the adapters off.

Wooooooo..... terrifying 72 degree head angle :D
-
• #5216
I think I put you on to that sale? I've used it all the time since I got it....
Route, almost all offroad, done to be near a train station, plus take in bothies, etc:

and then

I've seen those before and I do like them, but £19 rankles with me. There's some crappy BTwin ones for like £3 that I was thinking about trying first
-
• #5219
Yep. Was going to bodge them on with zip ties or something, hoping they'll take a couple of kilos. Decathlon is out of town so I haven't bothered riding over yet though.
Edit: it must be said that they look worse than I remember

I used one of those to attach a 750ml bottle to a seatpost mtbing in Ainsa. One of the nuts pulled through the body, releasing the strap.
-
• #5221
You did, thank you very much. Fits your frame well what size is your frame? Route looks great I may pinch it in the future, where did you get it? Also there are very few Bothies in Wales, is there a better place to look at other the MBA?
-
• #5222
I've got some, they're well thought out and well made. Nice plastic etc. When you consider that the anything cage HD is £35 they're not that bad for a good product.
-
• #5223
I still have a couple of nice saddles for sale btw ;-)
-
• #5224
Frame is L, Bag is XL, the bag is slightly too big but only like a tiny smidgen too large.
It's made from a few GPS tracks I found online, and some connecting stuff done by me on Where's the Path. Yes, sadly few bothies, MBA is best, but this one takes in the UK's smallest, above Hay in the Black Mtns :)

I might have to buy one if it gets shredded this weekend :~)
Pretty much the same here. Went from a rigid swift to a solaris with 100mm travel.
'Feels' more confident at speed.
