Budget dropper as recommended on here has developed a tiny bit of play but nothing problematic - and adds a huge amount to ease/fun of riding

I'm selling my RockShox Recon Gold RL 29er forks for £150 if anyone is interested? Freshly serviced and ready to roll

Thinking of building a budget 29er with some parts from my old MTB and looking for a decent frameset. Ideally it would be steel, rigid fork, and able to fit mudguards as I'd want to use it for occasional use around town. I like the idea of a Surly ogre but they're so expensive. Any suggestions?

Charge cooker, genesis tarn, or go alu and get one of the pinnacle ramins

thanks, one of the genesis offerings might do actually. Looking at the vagabond now.

Anyone got a 29er wheelset (or nice tyres) for sale? 100/135mm QR, tubless ready, fairly wide, all that jazz.

That's going to have to wait for the new year for me...

Spent the weekend riding my new to me solaris at bikepark wales. Loved every second of it.
Until a crank arm fell off on the way to work this morning.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the tyres are a bit draggy, or the sus fork needs servicing.

Better that than falling off half way down Rim Dinger

Ha. you say this. The person who's bike it took out the mudguard of and the person whos van it hit were less than impressed.
Ho. hum.
Bike park Wales though. Amazing. well impressed.

He mentioned having Maxxis High Rollers, which are quite slow-rolling. Also, riding with a sus fork can feel weird after getting used to rigid, especially if it's been neglected, or set up badly.
Pure speculation, of course :-)

are they worth £300
https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2199968/
I was looking for a high latitude, as they come in a bit bigger but maybe I should spend more for this -
• #5193
XL not gonna be a bit big? I think they were only about £45o new.
-
• #5194
Yeah, I'd struggle to pay £300, when they're new for £450.
Maybe make an offer, if it's in particularly good condition.

I think there'll be better deals out there I can buy something with crappy paint as what ever I get will get a third bottle cage at the very least, as well as a RAL 6003 powder coat

seen and ruled out for being too small, otherwise I would have snapped it up at that price

I didn't until last weekend's ride...now I really quite like it
The main difference the Solaris and the Swift is the Swift is better at low speeds smooth stuff, and Solaris better at higher speeds bumpy stuff.
Coming fast down some flowy singletrack in Epping the Solaris was so so so good, felt way better than the Swift, didn't realise how much it comes alive at speed. And it's pretty good slow too.
Taking it for a 4 day bikepacking trip in wales this week!

You're right...did feel weird, the steering a bit slower, but now used to it and having fun :)
I've learnt my lesson on buying a secondhand mtb, almost everything (save the fork thank god) has been trashed and needs replacing
Nothing has let me down yet. My first MTB so I don't have a lot to compare it to but it's excellent fun and everything - fork, gears, brakes etc is working really well.
