Carbon grip paste, always, even if it's not on carbon it gives extra grip meaning you don't need to tighten the collar as much. Copper slip is effective but if you get any on your clothes it's there for life.

Is there anything I can use until I get it delivered? Chain lube/wd40?

Olive oil?
I reckon anything would be fine as a stop gap, seems unlikely it’ll seize up overnight
-
• #89006
It'll be fine for a couple of days.

What is the purpose of tabs/eyelets on a the front side of a fork dropout if there are no mid-blade rack mount points? Extra-sturdy mudguards?
As on this horrible fork of mine.

mudguards / rack / different mounting options ¯ \ _ (ツ)_/¯
-
• #89009
There are plenty of front racks which mount to the dropouts and the centre bolt on the fork crown.

Oh. Those tabs never looked very sturdy to me though, can they take the weight? I guess a solid plate of metal is stronger than a tube

can they take the weight?
They have been doing so for decades.

I don't have one, but what about asking for a bike box from Chris Compton at Compton Cycles in Catford?
Last time I needed a bike box, he obliged. -

Any recommendations on what area to stay in in Amsterdam? There for a long weekend with the other half so reasonably central, convenient for tourist stuff. Cheers

I'm going to a conference and want to bring a big red button device that can be put in the middle of a table that makes a buzzer noise, that people can hit if people are going off topic.
However searching around I can only find novelty ones that say 'funny' words, or ones that are part of a game pack (I only need one).
Anyone know where I can definitely get such a thing?

Just bring a taser.

Could go for one of these instead

Do the maths. Chain ring radius changes by 1/π" for every 4 teeth (at 1/2" pitch) change in circumference

I think the answer is no but to be sure....can I safely run a 26×2.2 (56-599) tyre on a 700c wheel? The wheels have Architype rims.

26×2.2 (56-599) tyre on a 700c wheel?
Assuming you mean 559, but either way, your tyre's bead will be closer to the hub than your rim.

Thanks. Yes, I did mean 559.
-

If you can even get it over the rim you must have arms like the incredible hulk; a 700C wheel has a 622 bead seat diameter...
(No, it wouldn't be safe)
