• I've owned this bike for approx 7 years, and without a doubt it's been my favourite bike to ride, as a "Sunday best bike". Menet bicycles are a well respected bike shop in Belgium. I recieved a couple of emails from them, and they informed me that this was originally built as a team bike for themselves, by the highly regarded Martelly ( http://www.martelly.be ) I always thought it was more than a little special!

The frame measures 57cm centre to top, and the top tube is 56cm. The tubes are high spec Columbus Neuron. The rear seat and chain stays are chromed, along with the fork. The fork crown and seatpost lug are pantographed "M", and the bottom bracket lug is pantographed "Menet". The top tube also has a fitting for a racing number, all of which are rather nice. The paint work is finished of with a subtle iredesent laquer. There are inevitably some minor chips to the paintwork, but nothing major.

The 8 speed DuraAce groupset was originally from another bike, it's in great condition and works perfectly. It's what is generally referred to as 7410. It is made up of:

    • 7410 crankset with the original caps, and also the correct (narrow) 103 bottom bracket. The BB is not DA, but it sealed and has very little use.
    • 7402 8SIS rear derailleur
    • 7410 bolt on front derailleur
    • 7400 8 speed brifters
    • 7403 brake set with DuraAce pads.
    • 7410 Easton seatpost, polished.
    • 7410 headset
    • 7401 8 speed hyerglide cassette
    • 7400 8SIS hubs

The bars are Cinelli Nerve, wrapped in Cinelli kaleidoscope tape, with alloy Cinelli bar caps. The stem is/was a NOS, chromed Columbus steel, Cinelli Pinocchio (which still has its red cap!) The wheels are built are with DuraAce hubs, Mavic Reflex SUP rims and butted spokes. These are fitted with Deda RS Corsa tyres (23). I will also include an unused pair of Continental GP3000s. The Saddle is a San Marco Rolls, the pedals are Shimano PD A550 clips, and it's fitted with a pair of Halo Allen key QR replacements. It also has a Campagnolo branded seatpost frame bolt, just because it fitted so nicely.

Any questions, or more photos on request. Viewing is definitely recommended. I'm in Bromley, but can meet at Bromley South Rail Station (15 mins from Victoria) if it's more convenient for you.

  • That's a lovely bike, for a good price. GLWS!

  • Someone please buy this and get it out of my face.

  • Ads like this make me think about selling all my bikes, the 'projects' and random parts I've got stashed in the shed and just have this and ride the shit out of it come rain or shine... It's a beauty - GLWS!

  • Many thanks for your kind words.

And to answer a PM here, the tyres are clinchers.

  • Bike is sadly too big for me but if you end up splitting I'm v interested in pretty much the full groupset (incl. headset). Obviously I appreciate that you'd probably prefer not to split though!

  • Thanks for the interest. But not looking to split it yet. Although I may do at some stage.

  • Too cheap, last chance before somewhere else type bump

  • If you buy the parts I would love to buy the frame!

  • I think I'm gonna get sorted for a groupset from someone else, sorry to disappoint!
