The Alter clamp thing tightens properly
If it does, it will be the first example which has. It was always a shit design as a clamp whether it was an Alter, and Integralter or an Angel, and it can only have got worse by having half the circumference welded to some other tubes.

Town bike + 1x + cable discs = which Shimano gearset? I am looking at mountain bike groupsets and shrugging my shoulders.

RD-M4000-SGS and BB7 should do the trick

Is there anyway of making a shimano clutch mech work with shimano road shifters if not di2?
-
• #118231
Avoid all dyna-sys mechs, 9 speed RD works with 10 speed casettes and shifters

@voxelwise Awesome build, definitely an inspiration for my plans. Why did you fit the chinese forks?
@spotter I would have to ask Cinelli directly. There's some chat about it but I don't know if it's true. Regardless, with a frame this light you have to be a little careful.
@mdcc_tester yeah it's a crap design but attractive in being so anachronistic. I'll see how it holds up during a ride.

I'll see how it holds up
There's nowt wrong with using a supplementary support to overcome the weak clamping of the Alter-style wishbone, although a screw into the side of the seat post wouldn't be my first choice :)
I've done this style in the past on an MTB which didn't like keeping the post at the set height, just needs a lipless seat clamp of the right size to fit the seatpost.

No 9 speed clutch mechs though?
And any chance you can get 11 spd to work?
-
• #118235
AFAIK the only thing you need to look out for is Dyna-Sys because of the different cable pull, whether that's clutch or not wouldn't really matter, I think. 11S only works with Di2 combo's

Very nice! Apart from the white spokes obvs, but still.

Tell me about it. Tried scraping, acetone, white spirit etc. Fine for now, if I can be bothered, I’ll pull them apart and replace with silver or black one day.

Awesome, something about that groupset compliments the frame really well.
-
• #118240
That's right. Clutch mechs only came in with 10 speed. With Shimano, 10 and 11 speed MTB aren't compatible with road shifters. There might be a jtek converter that would help. Or use friction bar end shifters!

Excellent DBAD placement.

Ha, motherfucker, you’ve used the EXACT Groupset combo I’m planning for mine - good choice.
Although everyone knows sram red brakes are garbage.

EXACT Groupset combo
kinda disappointed .. I thought you meant 2012 Red 10 speed
might as well get that lunch box for your open now

• #118245
Is RED10 not RED10?
-
• #118246
I mean if you’re on about #ergodynamic and #aeroglide....
-
• #118247
I’ll pull them apart
Nah just mask off the rim/hub and spin it while spray painting black.

Also reminds me of my old 'dale. Kind of miss it.

Also check the seat post is the correct size.
