This sounds like a good plan! Also cable routing is much more appealing on the 7900 shifters... I think this might be the way forward on this build!
Sorry to throw a spanner among the pigeons, but I heard / read that 7900 shifting was less slick due to the internal routing creating more cable friction. 7800 shifters I have are super comfy and accurate / reliable.
