Deliveroo

Depends on the pay system the companies have in Sheffield, they're different in every city! For what it's worth, I signed up for Stuart in Leeds recently, I was looking for something part time and flexible to make a bit of extra money on top of my full time job. It's really quiet with very few orders here but you're guaranteed a minimum of £7 per hour, regardless of how many deliveries you make, unlike Uber and Deliveroo who only pay per drop (here at least).

Anyone successfully packed in doing Deliveroo and gotten the money back for the kit?

I’ve not done a shift for ages and the bag takes up so much room I’m thinking I should just pack it in.

I think the earliest shifts start at 4pm on a weekday and midday at the weekends. You thinking of signing up?

I think this puts Stuart out of the running for me, I'd rather have the chance at some daytime shifts.

Finally up and running. Not many shifts available to book at the moment. Is it worth just going into the delivery zone and logging on or will I not get much work?

Shifts come available almost daily in my zone as people cancel their booked shifts. It’s worth checking the app a few times a day and you can usually pick up some more hours.

I don’t think you can log in if you don’t have a shift booked?

Yeah, the app instructions implied that you could but it doesn't seem to work in my area. I stick notify on for upcoming shifts and try and book them on the fly. Surprisingly difficult to find somewhere warm to hunker down in Sheffield in between shifts without spending money.

Doing OK at the moment. I'm getting three deliveries a shift so far and even managed to get a tip. Double bonus for that one as it was the last call of the shift and took me two minutes from home.

The bags are paid off now so I'll start making some money now.

I don’t know Sheffield city Centre but in my city some of us will wait in McDonald’s. They do UberEATS delivery so it’s not unsual to have riders waiting inside.

Sheffield has a long corridor of pick up places which is a bit awkward. Riders seem to hedge their bets one end or the other.

I have just done my first week part time and did 53 deliveries. Quite an easy way to make money and get fit.

In my city they have been doing a lot of ‘surge fees’. Usually on the weekend we get an extra £1 or £1.50 per delivery (£5 or £5.50). Easily do 2-3 delivers per hour.

Anyone on uber have massive delays with the fastest fast food place, McDonald's? Constantly find they are slower than real restaurants, and orders are often very nearby = very low value order for a big wait.
On Deliveroo you get free tea/"coffee" f from some KFC now

Yes. Last night I was working short-notice for £1 a drop more.

Interesting that the other riders (who I guess booked in advance) hadn’t got that message somehow.

Tonight they’re offering the rush rate for everyone (booked or otherwise) in my area.
