Here's my initial ideas for a custom bag based on Bigxtop's daysack: https://www.bigxtop.com/collections/bags/products/daysack
Along the front there'll be two waterproof zippers, like so
This will give me top access like a standard bag when needed, and if I lay the bag flat down and open both zippers, I'll have access to something like this
(though opened from the front)
Have to run it past Jordan, but the idea is to have a fully removable insert so I can pull it out and get a regular rucksack.
Would love some input on this. Feel free to shoot it down, not precious about my ideas, just want the bag to be as good as possible

Really like that bag at the top...

It's fantastic. If you want a simple rucksack that's good for riding I doubt you can find something better for the money. I've had mine for years, using it daily, taking it travelling heaps and it's barely broken in

Kind of reminds me of this, which I have but it refuses to break...

Yes, but if that's a car, the bigxtop is a tank.
I doubt you wear that one out though. I friend of mine had one and it's super nice

These backpacks look very nice, and if they are really made so well the price is pretty good as well!
Using this with extra zippers and a removable insert where you can tetris all your stuff into as a camera backpack would work I guess, though I'm pretty sure it would drive me crazy in no time having to not only strip the whole thing off completely but also having to lay it pretty much flat on the ground (so the lenses don't fall out when I open the zippers) every time I would need something.
Imagine you are somewhere where the ground is wet / muddy. -

Good points, though I see the use of the bag more as a transport bag rather than walking around bag.
That said, I'll be using it for walking around, so gonna have a think about having quicker access to stuff. I worry it'll impact the weatherproofing though, and the theft proofing.

Kboy, and anyone else that's used a 6d
Is your multi controller a bit shit?
Mine on this brand new one is very shit. It's so loose (in and out not in relation to the back plate that it's attached to) that it's hard press the right button (there are 8). It's also not centred in the thumb dial ring, so when you press one of the buttons it almost moves the ring!
Online many folk are among either there's is fine, or its super loose...
If nothing else, feels like the buttons on a £50 argos compact. -

mesmerizing video

I wouldn't be happy with that
Never thought twice about mine so assume it's fine.
Can't you return it? Or get it fixed on warranty?
-
• #740
Yeah, mine isn't like that.
It's far from a being a nice button but it aint wobbling all over the shop.
You can see some PCB in the gaps around it in the right light. Gives you some idea of the "weather sealing" :)

Gonna ask. Ordered from hk, but despatched from a warehouse in London. I'm leaving in a few weeks so poss not long enough for a repair.
Used to have a 20d, serval 40d and a 5d2, all of which are tank like in construction. Even after over a decade of use they feel so so so much more positive.

The button feel has been a bit inconsistent with Canon over the past few years. They seemed to have experimented a bit with different models. The 60D had notoriously mushy buttons whereas something like the 450D is fairly clicky.
6D buttons are a little mushy but the rear pad is a bit shit, tbh. I’d send it back to HK when you return or call fixation and see if it’s a quick fix.
Mine also came from HK (digitalrev) but they have(had?) a fairly decent return policy as far as I can remember.

Inspiration is lacking for my girlfriend's birthday so thought I may buy her a nice camera strap. Any suggestions for nice but relatively lightweight ones (it's for a Canon rebel or whatever their lightest DSLR is called so nothing too bulky)?

Restrap do one - don't know about weight but their stuff is nice and quality. 15% off as well (https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/220326/).
I personally like Joby straps - they do a convertible strap; goes for neck, hand and wrist:
