Seiko in attractive watch shocker. 😎

They really need to reissue the 6138. A couple of tweaks to bring it up to modern standards but a cheap auto chronograph would be great.

If they did that, they would put another word on the face and charge 4x what you'd want to pay.

^^ What he said .

I happen to really enjoy his reviews. Interesting and rather amusing

I've had a search set up on ebay for "Seiko 6138" for a while but everything looks a bit pricey, £500+, and I know sod all about them so I haven't bit the bullet yet.

I really want the bullhead 6138.
Used to have a 6138-0011 but it just kept breaking and was impossible to find parts for. Sold it as spares & repairs in the end.
The only issue with them now is that no-one can really fix them and if they can, it costs more than what the watch is worth.

BTW, interesting easter egg - the guy wears a batman mask you can almost catch a glimps of in the reflections in the watches. To hide his identity.

- don't get into watches!
Fun little rant. Promptly bought a watch straight after though :/
edit - the £10 off Amazon code helped
- don't get into watches!

Advice please! I’ve decided I’d like to buy myself an Omega of my own - I inherited my Grandad’s HS8 - to wear often and ultimately pass down both to my kids, whenever that happens.
I’m keen on either a Speedmaster, Railmaster or Aqua Terra, but budget is only around £2k-ish, a touch more if I need to, so brand new is out the question, and I’m not that inclined to buy something that tanks with depreciation soon as I walk out the shop
Where’s the best place to go looking for these, Watchfinder type places or elsewhere?
-

Forget watchfinder, the prices are totally unrealistic. If you’re patient you should be able to get hold of an aqua terra railmaster (2802.52.37) and have a couple of hundred quid change. Prices are gently starting to rise with the reissue of the new model, so it’s a good time to buy IMO.

Watchfinder have always dropped their prices to reasonable levels when I have challenged/haggled.
-
• #25489
“Hi, can you knock a grand off the price please?”
Something like that, right?
-
• #25490
Actually, thats exactly what I did when I bought my last watch from them.

• #25492
Will give it a try!

I am a real sucker for a Daytona.
On another subject, I have finally come to realise that I haven't bought a Moonwatch because whilst I love the history, I really don't like the watch as much as I want to.
-

You will if you buy one. I am lucky to have a couple of different watches ( obviously doing what I do) and also can choose to buy anything from any of the brands we stock, and yet the only thing I seem to wear every day is my moonwatch, I have one on a croc deployant and a vintage one on a NATO . It makes me smile every time I look at it. Put it back on its bracelet and it looks different again.
Best watch in the world. -

I don't have trouble believing it is the best watch in the world. That's not the issue. For me, I want to buy watches that make me excited to wear. Two examples are the Royal Oak and the Ploprof. I look at them and smile. The moonwatch just doesn't do that for me.
That said, I'm sure I'll change my mind. Seems crazy to not have one in my collection.

Plop rof.

Between those three I prefer the Speedy and Railmaster. The Aqua Terras are nice but a bit dull, IMO.
Personally, I think the Railmasters are stunning and would probably lean towards that.

Is it plop rof or pro plof?

Plop off.
