And you?

Gonna start travelling again this year, first stop India. I've seen a machine up in the Punjab I want to purchase. Be a nice trip, I like to have a purpose for any journey I take.

What machine?

For making bike chains.

Hey Bruno, good to have you back. That Ephgrave ... I bet I'd like it even more if you posted a side-on shot. :)

I’ve heard about those. Someone told me they’re in Oxford, Cambridge, Sheffield and London too.

Can anyone point me to the thread with the guys shed where he carves wood? I thought this was it, tried searching a few things.
Or tell me who it is- I want to ask about his carving vice!
Thanks very much if you can help -

carving vice
I think he regards it as healthy hobby rather than a vice.

'New' shed:
Nice, but plans for something quite a bit bigger and substantial are afoot.

If that's me, it's this one :-)

I see Axminster have added a couple of newer ones since I got mine. I get on fine with it, but might have got the new clamp-on one, if buying now, as I don't keep the vice permanently attached to my bench anyway.

Garden studio type thing with a proper roof (thinking sedum), secure for bike storage and winter guinea pig accommodation.
Mancave, basically.

Dumb question I’m sure but how does wood attach to the vice platform bit?
-
• #124
There's a bunch of little holes in the platform. You attach the wood by screwing from underneath.
You only need a small amount of screw sticking in the wood, unless it's really soft. Just mark on the side of the wood how far they go in, so you don't ruin the edge of your chisel by accidentally hitting a screw.

I really wanted a sedum roof on mine, but I was running out of time and budget at that point (my office/shed was a total DIY)
Mostly quiet for now, apart from these weird yellow bikes cropping up everywhere...
