I have a poor enough grip and the hook grip helps. Again, I’m not lifting that much my deadlift PB is around 140kg but I think I could surpass that with minimal effort - just getting the time to build up to it is the issue.
I'll try and remember that grip for next time. I'm going tomorrow but can't imagine I'll be doing more deads.
This gym has wooden floors and only tiny deadlift matts/sponges - if I let go it's going through the floor. :)
If I had any advice it would be to buy Mark Rippetoe’s book - Starting Strength - all the info is there.
