Currently am being given the run-around by Audi aus. My A3 1.8tfsi has an oil burning issue due to a manufacturing flaw in the piston rings. It's a known issue with an official product bulletin.
Audi now claims it's my rocker cover gaskets that are leaking... Visual inspection reveals dry seals and no obvious leaks. Absolute arsewipes. Engine has 76,000 Kay's and is well within it's lifespan and has full Audi history bar one independent for a minor service. So I'm facing a big fight or a $12000 engine rebuild because of their bad engineering. Or I sell it and that makes me the arse for selling a bad car. Over it! No more vag product for me.
I've even found a replacement family car... A 1984 barn find pug 505 GTi. It's been sitting for 20 years but in perfect condition. Add a low pressure turbo and off we go.
Because they are Audi. My normal mechanic can do it for $300. Just depends on Audi requirements... They'll only pay for my engine if I follow their rules.
