might run some paste similar to engineer's blue onto an old chain and see if there's any observable contact
Stick a paper label to the disc skin and see if the chain marks or erodes it, much more obvious and much easier to clean up than bluing.

It would probably infuriate me too, and more run out would only exacerbate my exasperation.
For once one of my spelling/grammatical cock-ups makes some sense in the situation...

Brilliant idea, will give it a try.

Joy!
Someone I wrench for, ordered one earlier today...

If it's any consolation, tubeless setup took me 5 minutes (well i started at the beginning of Stairway to Heaven, and was done before the song finished)

I pulled about 2 metres of electrical tape off the Shiv last night. I think I need to get better (read:less lazy) at hiding components on the bike.

Is this the start of project 49:59?
-
• #2083
Yeah. The Shiv came off the rack on Sunday for Di2 charging. The missus wiped it down for me (the bike, you filth!) and I took the disc off last night. Tonight I'll swap the cassette onto a training wheel and put it on the turbo for an easy spin.
I've got a few new parts I need to buy for it and then there's the training...

What parts are you replacing/upgrading?
-
• #2085
If I told you... I'd have to kill you.
I want to swap the bodged FD for a neater chainguide solution.
I've got a carbon ring to fit my current cranks to replace the cheapie on there.
I'm going to try new tyres
I'm using single-ring so should lose the FD shifter cable - might just pack it into the extension.
I want a nice way of hiding my Di2 charge box.
I want to test Aerocoach trip socks vs. my current calf guards.
I'll be doing some aero testing and might try Aerocoach armrests if it helps me hold position.
Getting into less bang for buck areas...
Might cough up for those bigger jockey wheels and waxed chains or at least clean my current stuff :)
Find more aero shoes - looks like Giro Empires will work midfoot and should be a bit faster than my current Shimanos. Those crazy aero Bonts are too skinny I think.
Train better.Anything else I should try?

I find Empires really narrow so might not suit if you have fat feet. They also have low stack so you'll need to adjust saddle height. Think I need to work on my lacing technique as I can't quite get them as tight as I'd like..
What's the chainring you're getting rid of? #vulturecircling

Anything else I should try?
TriRig brakes?

I have pretty wide feet - you have to have wide feet to carry my attitude everywhere :). I'd try them on first, obvs. Thing is, I only have to wear them for an hour so I can be less comfort oriented than my current setup which is basically 24hr racing. But anyway the shoes thing is only like 2-3W at fairly large expense so not likely to happen.
I won't be getting rid of the chainring - it's a cheapie I bought of here I think and I'll use it for turbo training so I don't wear out my carbon one. I do have a selection of DA chainrings and cranks too but I worry about getting rid of them - as soon as I do I will need them, I know it. :)

Had them and got rid of them. I've got Maguras now.

Bont Zero's (rather than Chronos) are pretty aero and come in a wide fitting
-
• #2091
I've heard too many reports of Bonts falling apart or being sized wrong, etc. When I last looked they also had a very sculpted, odd shaped bottom, which would make midfoot a proper PITA.
If I was going to buy them I'd buy the Chronos. -

What shoe size are you?
-
• #2093
Normally look at 47/48 depending on manufacturer.
IIRC my SIDIs are both 47 Mega, my Shimanos are 47 and one pair is a 48. -

‘New parts’ code for a motor.
-
• #2095
Oh. Troll feet.
I've got some "next to new" Empire, but they're 46.
-
• #2096
You think I bought the Tri version of the Shiv for looks?
-
• #2097
Oh. Man feet.
I've got some "next to new" Empire, but they're 46.That you want to get rid of?
-
• #2098
I thought you got it because it’s so big it makes you look thinner.
-
• #2099
Ha! LOLd
Nah, I would've paid extra for the black (slimming) version if that were the case. :)
-
• #2100
Yup.
I bought them off of Skinny actually, as a spare pair when I was feeling flush: I haven't used them and I seem to remember he hadn't.
It would probably infuriate me too, and more run out would only exacerbate my exasperation.
