^Sold.
2016 too busy to upkeep this thread for the past however many Months. Got my self a Basso Loto, Pep Magni to restore, F Moser Leader with full Dura Ace that will be for sale soon enough. I recently got this Peugeot Pista
Been far too busy to inquire of it's origin, seatpost doesn't have a reading so I'm hoping it's 27.2 for 531/753 but I have absolutely no idea of it's tubing or even framebuilder. There is a few clues do. The Bottom bracket Serial Number, The Shops name on the DT(Pictured) and on the front tire there is permanent marker that reads 'BETTELLI' and on the Mavic rim there is the the letters 'BJF'. Bike is 57x56 I think. I have absolutely no way of getting any of my tools at the moment as I'm away from home. Soon this will change and I can regrease the hubs, throw on a set of used Rally tubs and a 100m Cinelli 1a + Campione Del Mondo. I have absolutely no idea towards what way this project will end up....... -

Seems like the usual spit'n'polish job and new tubs are going to do wonders! I like the bar tape (I am sure you could get something similar new), but think a new black tape to match the saddle would suit it good as well and make the frame pop out (after you make it all sparkly). Paging @Gaston for a history lesson?

Haha, @Gaston is good always for the French side of the tracks!! Ye I reckon I probably fix it up to be a good usable pista/piste first just to fly around on. Always wanted one just to know the feel of a fixed gear track bike(couldn't bare to turn a road bike to a fixie).
I more than likely will end up doing a complete restoration. I built two pairs of wheels as a goal last year and now that plateau has been reached I have an itch for painting. I would like to learn how to sand blast a frame and paint accordingly and this is the perfect bike for it IMO. I have a soft spot for pugs and their paint designs as what sparked my interest in cycling was pulling a Peugeot from a ditch in my friends student house, pumpin' up the tires and taking a 15 meter spin on my first racing bike. As far as the restoration goes it will be a long term build and as I'm just too damn busy these days with college + work.
In terms of the Group set. It seems to be good, Rear wheel's spokes are rusty as hell so I might rebuild front and back with DT Swiss DB spokes + Nos Mavic Rims, French Pista pedals, Campy seatpost, new saddle but I will see if it is all applicable to my current state of funds. Def gonna be a long term and 100% period correct build. Seatpost Binder is Campagnolo :)Very little info towards Peugeot Piste Velos and one thing is for sure, this wasn't made in the Peugeot Factory.

Sounds fun!

I had a very similar frame in super vitus 980, forks in vitus 888. If my memory serves me right, the seatpost diameter was 26.6mm..

Any pictures?
I'm looking at Peugeots and this Peugeot has identical lugwork..
I have looked up http://www.bikeboompeugeot.com/index.html
and from this I have dated the the Normandy hubs to 1978.the Headbadge is 80's and the splash decals on the side are 1988-1990.

As does this. Lugwork is identical and has same markings.

Those are very nice! The lugs on the steering tube I think they're Bocama, if you scratch a bit the paint, you can see their logo "BCM" on it:http://www.classicrendezvous.com/images/French/bocama/super_pro_catalog_page.jpg
You have a couple of pics of my old Geliano here, although it doesn't have the same lugs:

Yep your correct, Headtube are definitely Bocama lugs!! Rest I'm unsure. Rear dropouts are not marked either.
-
• #261
Seatpost Cluster, Headtube top & bottom, BB are Bocama. The fork crown is identical to them Top Peugeots as well as the rest of the the lugwork. Using a ruler and eyeing up the diameter it looks 27.2!!
So far then:Tubing: Columbus
Lubwork: Bocama
Year: 1988-1990I'll have a look up the bike shop 'Cycles Chailley - St Andre-les-Vergers' and see what the craic is with them and see if there still open.
Thanks @Agustin for the helpful info.

Since then I bought this beauty.
I then dissasembled.
and thought of this.
But I sought not the full Campy build of a Moser. During this time I picked up this Basso Loto.
I then picked up this Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra '92.
Which I dissasembled.
I dissasembled the Merckx and Moser. I used the Merckx's Dura Ace gruppo to my advantage and mobilised a full Dura Ace 7402 groupset to use on my Basso. I rebuilt the Moser using the the Merckx's traded parts.

blimey pat!

Thanks JT! I sold the Moser a month back. I was considering using the Campy to build up the the Basso like so:
But the Merckx being, a Merckx.
The Merckx is an incredible ride, handles so well at high speeds. Basso is very light and twitchy, great for climbing & training. With these two builds completed I was adamant about Super Record build so I picked up this beauty.

Better bikes than drugs! ;)
The Daccordi was a 56x56 which is far too small for me so I disassembled and sold the frame on.
I then sold the Campagnolo victory brake levers, Nuovo Record Rear Derailleur and the 3tt cockpit.
I hope to sell the wheelset
As I've picked up a pair of 28H Highflange Mavic 280 wheelset.
I removed the Sachs 8 speed freewheel using a Shimano freewheel removing tool. I then bought this bad boy off a fellow member.
Wheels are going to need new rims in the near distant future as the braking surface on the front is very worn but they shall do for the moment. I also got these Early C-Record(cobalto) brake levers which i hope to trade for Super Record Brake Levers.
Build is going to start slowing down now and I'm going to be updating in real time. So far this has been very expensive, but after all, life can only be lived once. :D

Thanks, Ye I'm not looking forward to the day when the tool for overhauling is required!!
Incredibly light and beautifully made. Bought it off a fellow forum member. Super Excellent condition, I do have a very expensive soft spot for Campagnolo.
I personally think it's a very healthy habit! -

You can use two chain whips can't you? The first two cogs are normally joined, and unscrew off. I got a set of spare cogs with mine.
