I had large chunks of the classic space lego stuff. I miss the 'alternate build ideas' they used to add to the booklets. It was always fun reverse engineering them based on just a picture or two.
Forgot this--I used to like that, too. You are aware of the LEGO Creator alternatives, aren't you?
Not all sets are like that, but many have different models, not always quite with the same bricks, and with full instructions included.

We have this ultra rare set - only ever released marketing gift from the manufacturer. Fortunately @LongAndWinding knows people.
