I actually did uncover the answer to my question: You need to tap the icon of the Kickr Snap multiple times in the Android app, in order to "unlock" the Advanced Spindown. At first glance it now reads much much better, looked pretty close to what my Powertap did, although of course the flywheel measure thing means it's a bit less jumpy ...

Has anyone here used 'turbotraining' before?
For £5 a month, compared to £9 for TrainerRoad, I think I'll give it a try.

There's also a free version.

Let me know what you think of it when you've tried it. I think I'm going to need to do some turbo stuff for the next few months to get some fitness back.

Will give it a try next week. Thankfully, the turbo is still over 100 miles away :-)

Has anyone worked out a way to edit speed/distance info coming from TrainerRoad to Strava? I'm using a Wahoo Kickr and it gives unrealistic speed data when in Erg mode. Not a massive issue, but it syncs to my Strava and credits me with kms that I haven't ridden. (49km in an hour rather than around 25km based on other pre Kickr sessions).

Don't be putting trainer rides on Strava. It's that simple.
Anybody have any idea why the Elite Direto has vanished from the Wiggle site? With my Platinum discount, it was the cheapest price I could see.

It's correct.
You're just not wasting most of your energy pushing air out of the way.

Right time to bite the pain bullet for the evenings once little one is down.
Thru axle direct mount, options?
Wahoo Kickr... any others?? -

After giving away a ‘dumb’ trainer earlier last year, which I could never be bothered with, I’ve since drastically increased my mileage and have some fitness I want to maintain and hopefully further develop. My predicament now is that the time I’ve been spending riding will soon be occupied with more important obligations, so I’ve just ordered a direct drive trainer (Elite Direto). Once I’ve set it up, I intend to give both Zwift and TrainerRoad a trial.
Does anyone have starting tips? Either in terms of practical set up considerations or how I use these apps, or others, to start building a plan that I can set targets to track progress against? Do I need to benchmark where I am now? Do the apps start by doing that? Any help or links to articles gratefully received.

I have a free trial for TR - let me know if you want it.
I’d normally recommend an FTP test to kick things off, but if you’ve barely ridden a turbo before I’d probably start by getting a couple of hours experience first and just do some light riding. You’ll barely be out of the saddle and there’s less inertia so riding feels different to begin with.
I’m about 8 weeks into using TR and have just finished the ‘base’ plan - I’d suggest you do the same, the start of which involves an FTP test, the app provides you with appropriate power targets and your progress can be measured.

Brilliant - thanks!

Another vote for TR. It’s good, I enjoy the structure and feedback with metrics. Just do what it says and you’ll add watts.

Don't
It's shit. Or was. -

Right. Elite Direto is here and appears to be working. I’m going to get set up on Trainer Road initially.
How are people setting up Garmin pages for training? What numbers are you looking at? Is there a useful way to log everything on Strava?

You can get Trainerroad to automatically sync your sessions with Strava.
Do you have a free month trial for Trainerroad? If not, bung me a PM with the email address you want to use with it and I'll sign you up for one.

And to answer your other question - Trainerroad offer training plans to suit most needs, have a look through and see what suits you.
I'd recommend you do a couple of sessions before you do any FTP type tests, just to get used to training with a turbo.

Let me know how you go with the Direto. My Tacx Flux has started making some whack noises.

I have Direto and it is great. The only knock I have is there is a slight lag in building power, so on short intervals (10-15 seconds) it can take 3-5 seconds to build to the requisite power.

• #1596
I think that's the same as any smart trainer really.

Standard first post. Baby + Winter = loaned Elite Muin Dumb Turbo.
I Ride the wattbike at work once a week roughly, and get along fairly well with that. Presumably attaching the Mesuro B+ with Trainerroad will give me pretty similar setup?
Also looks like I can use the trainer road programmes on the wattbike? Anyone have any experience with how comparable data from wattbike is to turbo, as in could I use them interchangeably on the same training plan?

Anyone got any experience with the Elite Direto turbo trainer?

Er... Have you read the page above?

Has anyone checked out the STAC zero?
Looks like a totally silent trainer as there's no physical connection to the wheel beyond the QR contact.
