All forecasts have it very cold and raining for nearly all of the ride. Please consider whether this is something you're up for, as well as maintaining a club run-esque pace for the duration. I only say this interest of everyone riding.
I can't fucking wait! I love me a second breakfast of road shit.

Actually lol'd

No sarcasm here; I've literally wasted my evening pouring over forum nostalgia, an internet rabbit hole opened by the links in the op here.
Clubman, a don of the cog. Kind of ashamed I haven't done this ride before.

I've only done it once. The first 2 hours were beautifully sunny and mild and belied the name of the ride. Then winter came on hard.

For the sake of those organising and support etc; I am out. Took a tumble earlier and have failed to fettle the Mash adequately. Respect to those tripple hard bastards getting it done though.

Cheers Steve, Jonny, Christian (sorry about the tumble)

I've come down with the flu so can't make it. Hope it's a pleasantly unpleasant ride!

30 miles done, just the easy bit. I can confirm there's a headwind on the way back in. Jesus H! Bonked massively a couple of miles from home because I went out without anything not intending to do many miles, staggered into a shop and practically collapsed on the chocolate milk fridge. Enjoyed a sugary Snickers drink out in the rain, wrang out some of my clothes and managed the last bit feeling like I had some fresh batteries put in, though the legs barely got me over Staines Bridge!
Can't wait until next year, hopefully be good for the whole distance!

Chapeau!

Thanks all for the ride and good luck with the return leg. Hope there's some (perverse) enjoyment to be had. I got a train easily. Really had no legs today and would have been a burden if I'd ridden back.

I would have moaned even more than last year.

Yeah, well done to everyone out there today. It's very cold and wet and after 40miles, my hands don't work. Woukd like to do this next year. I have the fitness, just not a sweet sweet fixeh that isn't 60yo!

Same here I did 45 and it was horrid. Not the advertised 5 degrees. Wasn’t really attired properly as a result, probably coldest I’ve been on a bike.
Kudos to all those who attempted this and more to those who complete it!

Chapeau riders.. I was gutted not to be there to share the suffering, too much going on in my life at the moment. But I miss that sense of achievement had after a long day in the saddle with strong riders for motivation surrounded by a bleak landscape

Y'all back in the warmth now?!? Hopefully you're having a nice shower /bath.
Have bodged a flap. Still not long enough, but better than the one that came with the mudguard. Excite.
