Is that the smallest frame they do?
-
• #3854
No it's a 52 , they do 50 and maybe smaller but not sure
-
• #3855
Yeah my pre - cxursa doesn't feel right as well, just sluggish some how, gonna stick with it till weather improves then back to speed I reckon
-
• #3856
Why’d you go for that size? Looks quite a bit big for you
-
• #3857
Sluggish ? I'm not doing races and I can push with my legs , and compare to what i had before it's just a dream
-
• #3858
Why ? Because of the seatpost No it's the perfect size .
Some people prefer to have long stem and long seat post , personally i prefer shorter stem . And i thug i can rise the saddle a little , i had no time to test it properly yetAnd i'm also not really well proportionated ^^ Short legs , longer Arms

It's sluggish cause of the disc forks I reckon, there's a picture on previous page of my pre - cxursa, had a cursa with alpina track forks and that flew along lovely
-
• #3860
You ditched the TT idea? How come?
-
• #3861
It's sluggish cause of the disc forks I reckon.
In the smaller sizes, it would, as the smaller sizes have a slacker headtube (from 71 to 74 degrees).
If a CX fork is fitted on a 52cm Precursa, then it would be closer to 71.5 degrees (Dolan claim 73 degrees with standard track fork), thus actually create an actual CX geometry with an even higher than average bottom bracket.

There's the science behind it, cheers for the explanation, out of interest if a fitted a normal road fork would that work ok?
-
• #3863
This.
IIRC it's the 54 is 74°, 52 is 73° and I think it's 71° for the 50 and 48.
Had the 52 which was ok but the 1° made helluva of a difference!

Oh very much so, track fork and road fork tend to be near identical in length, give or take a couple milimetre, in fact it handle quicker because road fork have more rake than track*.
*track bike typically have slower handling and shorter wheelbase, because it go round a velodrome, stability is keys.
more rake, mean less trail, equal quicker handling, less rake mean more trail equal slower handling.

Mine was sluggish mostly because of the shitty tyres, was no fun on our local weds night fast fixed blasts and I haven't been using it off road at all. Failed experiment.
@fizzy.bleach nah tt build is still go! Was gonna go back to road fixed in the meantime but the hub fell apart so the whole thing is shelved while I get the parts together. -
• #3866
I forget to add the tyres sizes, the bigger tyres increase the trail slightly which in turn create a slower handling.
Best solution? 650b, quickest solution? put some decent 25mm and it should handle well again.
-
• #3867
I really wanted to do 650b and go RANDOlan but money ran out and postage gonna cost me as much as those cheap wtb rims on planet x.
Track fork is back on now and it'll be a tt bike before long. -
• #3868
Such a versatile frameset, crazy value really
-
• #3869
Agree, just annoying about the geometry, as a 52cm doesn't handle the same as a 56cm.
-
• #3870
So the 56cm handles better? Mines a 52cm so I had option of low stack height, maybe I should be on a 54cm, looking for a beater road fork and wheel to stick on it now
-
• #3871
Saying all this it still flys up to speed just seems difficult to maintain pace, I need to win all commutes
-
• #3872
This was the previous set up which felt fine, little bit heavy on the front with the home made shopping trolley rack(1.2kg) and steel track fork, still rode fast

So the 56cm handles better?
The reason being is that the fork rake remain the same regardless of the frame size, so a 52cm Precursa handle slightly slower than the 56cm version due to the difference in headtube angle.
That is not uncommon in the cycling industry, and not really fair for those who doesn't fit in a common size, however this is changing (abet at a glacial pace) such as the 2018 Cannondale Synapse that are now size specific meaning that the smaller model will handle just like the bigger model.

Pre-cxursa is crap, going back to boring road bike build
