  • Fuck fuck fuck. bought a new car last Monday. In the midst of hectic work meetings and a load of personal life stress I managed to change over the insurance using lloyds online account manager thing. Argued with a call-centre drone over instant messenger then accepted the quote. I requested a transcript of the exchange for my records then closed the conversation. I am 100% sure I completed the transaction and got a confirmation screen AND that I took a screenshot on my crappy work computer. I'm less certain where I saved or sent that screenshot but I clearly remember doing it.

Po-po pulled over my wife with the baby in the car today and when called upon I can't provide any evidence that I did any of this. The Lloyds account still shows the old car. They only have records of the quote and the messenger exchange but no completed transaction. The police therefore issued a ticket for driving uninsured, 6 points on her licence, a court date and minimum £300 fine, impounded the car (another £150 to release and I can't get it till tomorrow when i have to go back into London with the log book) and left my wife stranded in tears in Catford with a confused and upset 2 year old.

To be fair they did drive her to the pub. My distraught wife then rang her parents to "rescue" her. I had to go to where they were and face a very frosty welcome followed by an excruciating drive home to Eastest Kent crammed silently in the back of the father in law's car doing 50mph the length of the M20.

Dry January has just bit the dust.

  • Have you had a chance to search through your computer for the screenshot. You should be able to do some sort of find for image documents created in a certain date range. Not sure if that will help your current situation or not.
