Go well chaps. Wish I was there. This is totally worth the ride just to see Clubman's car parked by the side of the road.
Hello Zanda!!!! Can understand your envy. Would be ice packs in that car where you are?

I think with the potential state of the weather I might sack off the disc and spok combo and come with a more sensible set of wheels with clinchers. Otherwise I sense I'm going to get stranded somewhere.

Dark Sky forecast looking more optimistic than BBC, anyone else getting the 7.30am train from Waterloo?
-
• #209
Yeah even for 10 miles or so it's probably a good idea to get some clinchers.
Btw I wouldn't begrudge anyone for opting out tomorrow. Personally though I'm quite excited by the way things are shaping up.

Rule 9 isn't it.

Anyway, wish I could come along to this but always knew it would be highly unlikely. Family commitments and the fact I've got a lads ski trip from the following weekend means requesting a pass this for would be domestic suicide.
Ride safe and have "fun".

Kudos to the folk doing this one tomorrow... looks like it’s got the makings of a classic forum ride!’

• #214
Would be epic but more them idiots make my blood boil with their apocalyptic forecasts.

• #215
I do know a German equivalent of this lunacy as well to be fair.

• #217
Are you and the missus doing the Willy Warmer tomorrow?
-
• #218
I'm gutted.
I've had this day penned in since August.
Family duties though. (Definitely not the spill I had on Wednesday morning and the fact I still have a dead arm.)Good luck everyone!

Great post Scrabble.
I'm still in. But a bit nervous, who's gonna ride with me when i get dropped? Ralph's out, Ian's out, Al's gone quiet on the thread.

Commute home this evening (which joins your route at Wallingford, up onto the top of the climbs and then across and down to Sonning Common) was really nice. Chilly, light tailwind, new moon. The road's were nice and dry. If anyone's on the way back and really suffering, it's all downhill to Reading Station from Sonning Common, with really quick Paddington station connections :)
Will be rooting for you all... -

Hey all, whatever the group structure tomorrow I'll aim for everyone riding having some group support. Also @clubman I think will be offering support of a kind, and the turnaround point at Berinsfield is only 7-8 miles from Oxford station if the way back doesn't appeal.
All forecasts have it very cold and raining for nearly all of the ride. Please consider whether this is something you're up for, as well as maintaining a club run-esque pace for the duration. I only say this interest of everyone riding.
Anyway exciting!

Anyway exciting!
Hope the excitement doesn't prevent you from sleeping.

• #223
And good luck to you all, safe riding and enjoy it.

Berinsfield to Oxford station is along a really busy road with dual carriageway sections before the cycleway starts (at the Sainsbury roundabout, just over half way). It's ok (have ridden it), but please, be careful if you're tired and bail here :)

All set and de-tubbed.

Right, instead of riding around in the cold and wet, I'll be standing around a film set in the cold and wet.
Good luck all!
