First like is overpriced and has bad pitting to the case back. Dial is either non-original or is a re-dial as it is too fresh. Not sure what the “Omega” typeface was in ‘58 but earlier “A” letters have a flat top. Strap is fake.
Second is over-polished and has a repainted dial. Auto rotor shows some wear to edge which indicates excessive play.

Went and looked at that Citizen Navihawk monstrosity again the other day. Liked it less and less.
I believe last night was yet another night dreaming of the Pro Trek, though. At least three separate dream segments. However in the dream it also had heartrate and was nice and thin. Come to think of it I was probably just dreaming of my Garmin Vivo...

Good stuff does turn up occasionally, but you have to know what you are looking for. This Seamaster 30 was an absolute pearler. It’s completely original and looks untouched. Just needs a new crystal and maybe a relume:

Yes, I absolutely love that watch. He has some good stuff. Are his prices fair? I have no idea. I pinged him a message about a DJ he had and he was willing to budge on the price FWIW.
Realistically, other than not being waterproof, are these totally fine to use as everyday watches? Have read conflicting things...

Looks like a good seller based on feedback, but just looking at one of the DJs listed, not sure that is an 18k bezel - I think that it would be fluted if it were, rather than engine turned, which as far as I know - and I don't know everything - would make it stainless.
EDIT: Not sure if you're asking about Seamaster or DJ, but DJ is waterproof. It's not going to be something to take in the sea diving, but if it gets rained on or you spill something on it, the water won't get in: https://www.rolex.com/watches/rolex-watchmaking/oyster-case.html
I wear my DJ pretty much everyday. I opted for it for its versatility. It goes well on an oyster bracelet, nato, leather, jubilee - I think it's in the middle of a dress watch and a tool watch.
EDIT 2: The plexi does like getting scratched, though. You'll want to take it off if you're going to get pissed or doing DIY and it might end up swinging about brickwork or something.
EDIT 3 (sorry): Do factor in additional costs - especially for vintage - for servicing or if it breaks down. There is no set cost/interval, but you can expect to pay several hundred pounds each 5-10 years I suppose.

Ha, thank you. I was talking about the Seamaster, just because of it's age, but I guess it applies to the DJ too. Yes, these are all internal battles I've been having over the last few weeks. Was looking at the blue dialled 1601. Is very nice.

Not a fan of those either.
My daily watch is this: http://www.watchshop.com/mens-citizen-world-chronograph-a-t-chronograph-radio-controlled-eco-drive-watch-at8025-51e-p99965888.html
Which may be of interest?

Looks like a reduced (in size/whatever) version of the Navihawk. I guess I loved the slide rule bezel and little else.
Been satisfied wearing the Seiko Arctura but actually miss having a dive bezel for timing my dinner/boiling vegetables. At least it fits under the cuff of all my clothing choices.
Supposed I should have brought back that super thin internal bezel quartz thing from the boss's dad in Italy.

They are lovely.

Even the Orion is a bit spendy for me. ^^ That thing is just so far outside my reality tunnel.

I was not expecting £14K when I googled ^

Apparently I really like Seiko/Orient... just ordered an Orient Esteem, which brings me to 5 or so from that company

Massdrop are actually doing it atm, for about $108 delivered. I realized the other day all my watches are diver types, and none fit under a shirt etc.. This one isn't super slim, but should fit a little better.

I know it's wrong but this is wonderful:

That Royal Oak is only 6mm. Sure, it's the only one made but It'd definitely fit under your cuff

I'm dallying on whether I prefer a black or grey dial. I do love the variations but plain is the way I go for me, even if I could afford one of the flashier ones.
-
• #25447
My tastes are definitely skewed towards simple, clean and un-flashy but this caught my attention for some reason.
At 124k CHF I won't need to worry about buying one any time soon though...

• #25448
haha you aren't the only one who likes it, not totally sure why I like it but there's just "something"
I do need to spend more time looking at higher end watches or maybe I don't and save my bank balance. :)

Tried on the Pro Trek Tough Solar. Waaaaaay too big. Oh well, £200 less spent (for now).

Awesome shot.
Although I still think dream form would be the plain 15202... No seconds hand just simple.
Yes, polishing like that always sets alarm bells ringing for me @freddo is usually a good guy to speak with on vintage watches
