  • Well that kinda sucks. Especially for off road use. It's not always easy to focus on the computer on rough trails. :(

  • Received my refund promptly so fair play to them.

The no audio puts the nail in it for me. That is essential, when I’m half asleep and thinking of other things, so to not miss my turn.

  • Does anyone know how, or if it’s even possible, to disable any and all beeps on a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt?

  • Elemnt app > settings > LEDs and Sound

    3 beep toggles in there

  • Still beeps all the time though! Looks like Wahoo are fiddling around with things all the time so hopefully a toggle switch will appear to turn off all beeps.

Only had it a few days so I don’t know all the instances but it’s definitely vocal when I turn it off.

  • I understand it syncs routes from your Ridewithgps account

The Element app does - and you can sort in date, proximity to route etc. The route is not synced to your Bolt/Elemnt until you select the route from the app and push it to your device.

  • I find this surprising given the chorus of auto-pausing Garmins on a group ride suggests to me that most people prefer to use that function..

Looks like a case of asking people what they want rather than observing what they do.

The Fenix beeps and vibrates to provide feedback and ask for attention. It's tiny.

  • They didn't ask me. One of the only reasons I still use bloody TBT nav is so I don't miss turns while I'm zoned out.

  • I think mine does that despite everything else being off. My work colleagues think I have a Tamagotchu

  • I'm really tempted by the Karoo, it's a heck of a lot of money for a head unit.. but then it's in line with a 520/820/Wahoo. It seems like it really could go one way or the other, it's either going to be brilliant (if not at first release then after a couple of firmware updates) and get better as the feature set gets broadened, or it'll be terrible. The promised support won't materialise and the hardware will start to fail after 6-12 months and the company won't be there to back it up when it does.

I'm quite torn. The bolt is the safe option but I am intrigued by the idea of the Karoo that already has (or will have) most/all of the features of garmin/wahoo plus data, android and all the potential there-in.

  • I pre-ordered a Karoo ages ago. They've said they'll ship them by the end of the month. If they do, then fine. If they don't, I'll be asking for a refund. Given that they've proved themselves to be lying weasels as well as hopeless optimists, my good will towards them as well as my patience has run out.

  • Anyone using a 1030 yet?

  • Not me, but I did notice this... free decent lights plus £15 off..

    https://www.cyclerepublic.com/accessories/bundles/garminbundle1.html

Considering it's unlikely to be discounted anytime soon, it seems like the 'best' option if you were buying..

  • Do we know what the pricing looks like?

  • "I should have learned from my early purchase of the Edge 1000 that Garmin expect you to beta test their products for them at your expense. Eventually the 1000 came good after many firmware updates and no doubt the 1030 will at some point, but at the moment there are too many bugs and features that just don't work for me to recommend it. Not good enough for such an expensive "premium" product."

"Had this for a couple of weeks now, and while there are some early life software problems, they are being fixed and has the makings of an excellent device. There are some bugs, but updated firmware is on the way so I won't list them here, suggest hitting the Garmin forums if you want to see more details on that. I did a 9 hour ride at the weekend with navigation and battery was at 50% at the end of it, so the 20 hour battery life figure seems fairly achievable. I found the navigation excellent, and the screen although dull under artificial light works very well in daylight. Some new features (to me anyway), like auto FTP calculation, fitness condition, stress levels etc. are very cool, not tried the Strava integration yet.

Bit expensive but nothing else on the market that can compete right now with the combination of this device and the Garmin ecosystem."

  • I want one, so I can give my old unit to the missus. But I don't want to pay £500 for it. That's fuckin' redic. I also don't want one now because it will be flakey as fuck because Garmin devs are clearly animals that have been brought back to life during secret cold war russian experiments..

  • exactly, dont pay those cunts, garmin needs to die

  • I'm already balls deep in Garmin shit though.

  • climb up, see the light, wahoo seems stable

  • Yes, strong and stable... where have I heard that before?

  • probably on Windows Vista CD box.

  • Is that the OS the Conservatives use to share their porn?

  • Can you pan out on maps yet? If not it's useless as a navigation device.
