"I should have learned from my early purchase of the Edge 1000 that Garmin expect you to beta test their products for them at your expense. Eventually the 1000 came good after many firmware updates and no doubt the 1030 will at some point, but at the moment there are too many bugs and features that just don't work for me to recommend it. Not good enough for such an expensive "premium" product."
"Had this for a couple of weeks now, and while there are some early life software problems, they are being fixed and has the makings of an excellent device. There are some bugs, but updated firmware is on the way so I won't list them here, suggest hitting the Garmin forums if you want to see more details on that. I did a 9 hour ride at the weekend with navigation and battery was at 50% at the end of it, so the 20 hour battery life figure seems fairly achievable. I found the navigation excellent, and the screen although dull under artificial light works very well in daylight. Some new features (to me anyway), like auto FTP calculation, fitness condition, stress levels etc. are very cool, not tried the Strava integration yet.
Bit expensive but nothing else on the market that can compete right now with the combination of this device and the Garmin ecosystem."
