Currently $300 (if you sign up for the pre-order pricing) plus $75 'taxes' - which I believe covers import duty/VAT etc. So about £270 all in. So expensive, but not insanely so considering it's feature set and more importantly it's potential.
Allegedly the pre order price will go up to the full retail price if $500 as soon as they start shipping units, so it might not be long if you want to jump on the bandwagon. I'm a little torn, like a few have said, I don't really want to be a beta tester, but I can also see the huge potential of this device, it could totally trounce everything that's come before.
Really tempted to bang it on the plastic at this point and return it if it isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I'm really tempted by the Karoo, it's a heck of a lot of money for a head unit.. but then it's in line with a 520/820/Wahoo. It seems like it really could go one way or the other, it's either going to be brilliant (if not at first release then after a couple of firmware updates) and get better as the feature set gets broadened, or it'll be terrible. The promised support won't materialise and the hardware will start to fail after 6-12 months and the company won't be there to back it up when it does.
I'm quite torn. The bolt is the safe option but I am intrigued by the idea of the Karoo that already has (or will have) most/all of the features of garmin/wahoo plus data, android and all the potential there-in.
