Do people take small locks for races like this? Or is my London mentality too ingrained?

I carry one but don't use it often. Just as a deterrent if i have to stop and there's some unsavouries hanging around or I'm going to be longer (ie. taking a shit). After about three days you're just hoping someone will steal your bike so you can go home anyway.
