Seems like a good deal if you like that sort of thing.

Great little watch, we sell them. Make sure warranty is all legit cos a lot of them go back under guarantee.

I've been vaguely interested in one of those for a while but not got round to it. It's not much of a discount, I've seen it cheaper and a bit more expensive that that but nowhere near £600.

Dear knowledgeable watch-people. I like the older omega seamasters, like this late 60s one, but alas I only have about a fifth (or so) of what the seller wants for it (£500, in Norway) to spend.
Any recommendations for cheap but decent (used) watches to look out for that would fit the bill?

How's about a brand new Orient Bambino?
They come in many, many variants.

There seem to be a lot of those knocking about for about £200 (the same Omega style, maybe not exactly the same model).

I just sold one of these to @Tenderloin

Great tip! They even offer free DHL express shipping... Anyone have any experience with VAT on import buying from this (or similar) sites?

I guess I should keep an eye out then... flea bay or where?

Anyone any details on this? It's a very small Timex, only 31mm excluding the crown. Found in an old box of watch bits from my uncle / grandad.

Yes. Good seller, it’ll probably be with you within 3-4 days of ordering it - they are very fast.
They used to mark the customs declarations falsely to avoid import duties and VAT, but that game now seems to be up so you will be stung. Still cheap though, even with taxes.

I’m sure there are U.K. sellers but given their prices, I think it may still work out cheaper. I’ve personally not ordered from there but have only heard good things.

Most likely a pin pallet movement, so fairly cheap. Looks nice though.

Thanks for the advice on the warranty. I’ve ordered from Amazon who’s website states a 2yr warranty and I suppose I go back to Amazon if the watch develops an issue

I’ve always been dubious when it come to rrp. What’s the cheapest price you’ve seen for a new watch and where ?
-
• #25419
It got under £300 at one point, last Black Friday on Amazon maybe.

I got this on Ebay for £250 a while ago
The non-gold ones are a fair bit cheaper.

Much prefer non-gold. Feels more versatile and less dressy. More neutral.
I was wearing the Citizen Eagle7 yesterday afternoon. Nice, but I think I may sell it and a couple other of these incredibly affordable watches. Will upload photos later if the hive can help me value and sell them.

I have a 2 tone Eagle 7 that gets scant wrist time, might see if the ministry of home affairs wants it before i flip it.
She already adopted a Seiko 5 I had kicking about. -

Here, two beautiful little watches have been acquired already, and rarely worn instead of the Michel Herbelin carboot find... so I'm not offering my boss any more.

If you don't mind a reface you can get a vintage Seamaster 600 for much cheaper from Vintage Watch Mart. http://www.vintagewatchmart.com

Funny that this has come up because I was going to ask about these today.
As I mentioned a while back I, along with my sisters, are looking to buy our dad a watch for his 60th in April. I know that he's love an old Seamaster and even more so a birth year watch (tall order I know). We've got a reasonably small budget (1000CAD so about 600 GBP at the minute) and I wanted to know if I was barking up the wrong tree looking for a nice late 80's Seamaster at that price. If anyone has some tips of what to look out for and a way of accurately gauging what year something is from it would be amazingly useful!
edited to say: I found this on my ebay trawl today.
Obviously top end of our budget but is this the kind of patina I should expect at this price range?
Second edit:
Am i right to be wary of something that looks like it's been polished to within an inch of it's life like this?
lol
