it 100% is not a G5, they have the 1 large fan rather than the 2 smaller ones that appear on the G5.
When they were bought they were custom made to order so I assume (like everything we use here) they specced them as highly as possible.

i found this which seems promising, i guess getting it to run a later OS means I'd be able to run more up to date browsers and maybe photoshop and lightroom CC?

If it's an intel mac it might be worth throwing ssd and ram at it, but if it's a G5 I wouldn't bother
