  • Old camera kit is worth very little unless it contains the word Leica or Rollieflex.

Not necessarily. Some classic cameras have had their price inflated over the years after being talked up by camera blogs (at the time they where cheap). Some manual focus lenses have also seen their price ramp up as people are starting to use these with adaptors on their modern digital cameras.
Not Leica, Hassleblad or Rollieflex prices but certainly not very little.

  • Cheers, glad you like them.

  • More from the Yashica electro ~ vista combo

  • I want to shoot the whole trip as a series, so all on the same film for the sake of consistency. I don't really like ektar colours, and i think the colours of morocco are too interesting to go b+w (as much as I agree; super fine b+w in the desert is pretty special). Ordered 2 boxes of portra 160, and i think i've got a couple of more rolls in the freezer. Will probably rate it down to 50 for super fine grain/ less contrast.
Now all i have to do is carry an insulated cool bag, packed with film, and a gw690 over the atlas mountains, and to the desert, in my panniers.

  • Guys,

My Leica M6 is becoming hard to focus sometimes, I dont know if its my eyes or a issue with the camera but sometimes I cannot see the focusing when sliding right or left.

Is this repairable or is it time to find another leica that doesn't have this issue.

    Thanks

  • Cat nap.

  • Portra 160 is a great choice then. It’s also way more forgiving of imperfect exposure (without the colour shifts ektar is known for).

  • Is the rangefinder patch not clear anymore, or does the rangefinder patch not overlap quite completely?

  • It looks clear but sometimes I cannot see the patch to overlap other times its absolutely fine.

Not sure if its the cold thats got something to do with it?!

  • Have a look at the cam follower inside the lens mount, as you focus the inside of the lens runs on it and moves the rangefinder.

If it's when it's cold it could be that arm needs greased.

Mine gave some trouble with the rangefinder lagging behind the lens focus. A clean and oil of this arm sorted it.

  • Thanks man, Ill give that a look.

  • A couple more Adox Scala 160.

  • @mi7rennie ..really like the scala tones.. would love to see how this looks projected on a big screen

Actually I do have a project in mind that involves projected b&w, but this will get quite expensive as I need 6 projectors minimum.
Anybody on here an expert on what's good?
Each of the projectors would need to show only one image, distance would be 4-8m probably.
What to look for on eBay etc. ?

  • @shinkuu_kiss oh yes, they're alive.. especially the first one.. good stuff!!

  • You aren’t blocking the focus-patch window with a rh finger or something?

  • They were drying marks...

  • 13 years ago I went skiing in St Anton. There's a steep blue run that's wide open. In 2005 there was a helicopter airlifting someone to hospital. This year, exactly the same thing. Weird. It flew off after dropping off paramedics, we carried on skiing, got the chair lift back up and it flew back and the chair stopped as we were right next to it. Very happy with the heli shot. The other one is just a Christmas Day tradition. Portra 400 in Mju II.
