Wanted: Triple Chainset

My old Carlton Corsair is taking over touring and child carrying duty. It needs lower gearing so a triple is in order.

Does anyone have a spare that they want rid of for internet good price?

Got a viable MTB set — can work fine on 68 mm bb shell if you choose the right length bb axle. Take it away for nowt!

What do I need to know about axle length? Is a triple that much wider that I need a shorter axle than on a double, to keep the cranks in the right place? Or is it an MTB thing?

There was me thinking that axle lengths were only really important in fixed for chainline. Näive....

Here you go... it's a Deore LX FC-M570 'Mega9' set, 170mm arms, rings 44-32-22, in working order and teeth all good. Not a thing of beauty but serviceable and if you can arsed to polish, will look OK. Set it up on a shorter axle than the OE spec to bring the chainline inboard a few mil. No doubt @mdcc_tester can give you chapter and verse. Pickup at my home in Kilburn would be ideal, otherwise Regent's Park? I would rather not have the faff of posting tbh.
